Association Junior Pennant

Moorabbin & Districts Junior Tennis Association and Bayside Regional Tennis Association are calling for nominations for the Tennis Victoria 2024 Associations Junior Pennant Competition.

Nominations will close Sunday 16th June 5.00pm.

After an extensive review there have been significant changes to the rules and eligibility criteria for the 2024 season.

All players nominating must have played a minimum of six Association Competition matches between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024.  This may include juniors, senior weekend, night tennis or mid-week women’s competition.  As we enter combined teams this can be across either Association.  Tennis Victoria will be enforcing this rule.

Player’s age is as at Sunday 24 November 2024

The season for 12 & Under, 14 & Under and Open Division (maximum age is 18) will commence Sunday 11th August with grand finals Sunday 17th November 2024.  These age groups will have a maximum of four sections each.  The teams will be determined based primarily on UTR.  I have attached the UTR averages from last year as a guide.

10 & Under is a Green Ball Mixed competition that will run for 7-weeks only starting Sunday 1st September and concluding with a Grand Final on Sunday 17th November 2024.  The season is timed this way so as not to clash with Super 10’s.  Associations are permitted to enter a maximum of two 10 & Under teams and there will only be two sections.

For the Open Division players requesting to play out of age must have a minimum UTR of 8 for boys and 6 for girls (this does not apply for ‘in age’ players).

Matches start at 8.30am on a Sunday morning.  As you are aware this clashes with our own junior competition.  Please do not nominate for AJP if you are playing the local BRTA Competition – it is very difficult (or requires good management) to do both.  If you nominate for AJP it takes precedence over local competition.  BRTA lobbied hard to move the competition to Sunday afternoon due to very limited court availability to host home matches – this year we will try to field as many teams as permitted under the rules – but only if we can secure the courts.  We are not guaranteeing to have a spot for every player that nominates for this season.

We require courts to host home matches and Team Managers to run the teams.  Please let us know if your club can assist.
