AJL 2020 Team List

Due to the Government’s COVID-19 announcement, we advise that the AJL
competition will need to be modified. The six week lockdown period
extends past the intended first round of the competition which was scheduled for
Sunday, 16 August. Tennis Victoria will endeavour to schedule a ten-week season
(five weeks for 18 & Under) should circumstances permit. We will continue to
monitor the directives of Tennis Victoria and we’ll update as information comes to
hand.

A record seventeen teams will represent Bayside-Moorabbin in the 2020 season. Gradings by Tennis Victoria will be advised in the third or fourth week of July.

9th July, 2020: Tennis Victoria Guidelines

The Victorian Premier has announced new restrictions and a Stay at Home Directive for 6 weeks for Metropolitan Melbourne from 11.59 pm 8 July.  During this time, tennis has been identified as an activity which can continue, with restrictions.

The guidance states: Outdoor sport facilities will be closed, except for facilities where people can exercise with no more than one other person or members of your household while maintaining 1.5 metres distance. Equipment should not be shared, and communal facilities cannot open.

Community sport training and competition cannot occur within the Melbourne metropolitan area or the Shire of Mitchell. If you live in this area you cannot participate in community sport elsewhere.

Therefore,

  • Community competition must be cancelled until further notice
  • Pennant 2020 is cancelled
  • All indoor facilities must close – this includes all indoor courts, clubhouses/rooms
  • Cafes in clubhouses can serve take away and home delivery only
  • Outdoor courts may remain open for the following:
    • Casual play (public court hire or club members) for members of the same household or for 2 people from different households.
    • Coaching for members of the same household or one to one coaching
  • All other programmes and activity must cease until further notice
  • Tennis equipment must not be shared
  • No one from outside a lockdown area may play at a facility within the lockdown area – and vice versa

The ‘Hot Zone’ areas identified 1 July can now revert to the above guidance.

About Us

Bayside Regional Tennis Association (Registered no: A0040463W) comprises over 130 tennis clubs primarily located in the suburbs of Melbourne on the south and east of Port Phillip Bay. It was formed in August 2000 by the merger of the Caulfield Carrum Tennis Association Inc. (founded in 1921) and the Southern Districts Tennis Association Inc. (founded in 1925).

The purpose of the Association is to promote, encourage, and advance the game of Tennis within the Bayside region, and support the activities of its members. Senior tennis is hosted throughout the week in a range of formats which have evolved to suit our members. Our junior competition is very popular and the BRTA not only co-ordinates broad-based inter-club matches but also provides talented juniors several opportunities to represent Bayside.
