Due to the Government’s COVID-19 announcement, we advise that the AJL
competition will need to be modified. The six week lockdown period
extends past the intended first round of the competition which was scheduled for
Sunday, 16 August. Tennis Victoria will endeavour to schedule a ten-week season
(five weeks for 18 & Under) should circumstances permit. We will continue to
monitor the directives of Tennis Victoria and we’ll update as information comes to
A record seventeen teams will represent Bayside-Moorabbin in the 2020 season. Gradings by Tennis Victoria will be advised in the third or fourth week of July.
The Victorian Premier has announced new restrictions and a Stay at Home Directive for 6 weeks for Metropolitan Melbourne from 11.59 pm 8 July. During this time, tennis has been identified as an activity which can continue, with restrictions.
The guidance states: Outdoor sport facilities will be closed, except for facilities where people can exercise with no more than one other person or members of your household while maintaining 1.5 metres distance. Equipment should not be shared, and communal facilities cannot open.
Community sport training and competition cannot occur within the Melbourne metropolitan area or the Shire of Mitchell. If you live in this area you cannot participate in community sport elsewhere.
The ‘Hot Zone’ areas identified 1 July can now revert to the above guidance.

Bayside Regional Tennis Association (Registered no: A0040463W) comprises over 130 tennis clubs primarily located in the suburbs of Melbourne on the south and east of Port Phillip Bay. It was formed in August 2000 by the merger of the Caulfield Carrum Tennis Association Inc. (founded in 1921) and the Southern Districts Tennis Association Inc. (founded in 1925).
