Our kids have a wide choice of pathways. The BRTA runs weekend club competitions for juniors and has representative teams for the AJL, the Wayne Arthur Cup, the Frank Sedgman Cup and more.
This is our longest-running and most popular competition, played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Join this great community of social tennis players of all ages and abilities
With the Covid-19 lockdown all junior BRTA and MDJTA players will have been ‘chomping at the bit’ to get back to competition tennis. Both Associations are planning to resume normal local competition in line with regular season dates as soon as government and sport authorities determine it is safe to do so.
Tennis Victoria has advised Associations to prepare for the AJL (Associations Junior League – formerly Junior Pennant) season with team selection as usual. We invite all interested juniors to nominate by following the link. Nominations must be received by Friday 19th June, 2020
The Bayside Regional Tennis Association wishes to advise all players that the current Junior Saturday and Sunday Morning Competitions and the Ladies Mid-week seasons (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) have now been abandoned.
We do not take this decision lightly and regret not being able to complete the current seasons and return to competition play. We are advising this now so players can plan their weekends and return to tennis with plenty of advance notice. Finals were scheduled to start next week and only six rounds have been completed to date.
Entry forms for next season have now been circulated to all clubs. The next seasons are scheduled to start after the July school holidays all being well.
As for senior Saturday afternoon competition; that is yet to start and we are hopeful of getting it completed before the end of September so that the Spring/Summer 2020/21 season can start as scheduled. We will advise clubs as soon as possible with regard to starting Senior Competition. We are mindful of the Tennis Victoria Pennant and BRTA Seniors seasons crossover and the implications of a clash of schedules.
We encourage all tennis players to play at their local clubs within the guidelines of Chief Health Officer of Victoria’s updates.
