Welcome to the Bayside Regional Tennis Association website. This site has been set up to facilitate communication between the Association and its member clubs and tennis players.

The Bayside Regional Tennis Association Inc. (BRTA) comprises over 150 tennis clubs and night tennis teams primarily located in the suburbs of Melbourne on the south and east of Port Phillip Bay.

The Association was formed in August 2000 by the merger of the Caulfield Carrum Tennis Association Inc. (founded in 1921) and the Southern Districts Tennis Association Inc. (founded in 1925). The Association promotes, encourages and advances the game of Tennis within the Bayside region, and co-ordinates the activities of its members. It arranges and manages tennis competitions between teams representing member clubs, and fosters the development of junior tennis through competitions and coaching schemes.

CHANGE IN ADVERSE WEATHER BY-LAW
The paragraph in By-Law 12 regarding adverse weather was amended at a Special General Meeting held on 17th October 2011. The amended wording is as follows:

"In the case of wet days, the away team Captain may contact the home team Captain or authorised representative of the home club, to determine if their courts are playable that day. If both Captains agree to abandon play for the day, the home team will advise the Association that the game was a washout and points will be divided equally between both teams."

Under the previous wording, both teams were required to attend at the venue, and play could not be abandoned until 60 minutes after the stipulated starting time.

The amended by-law is effective immediately. Note that the visiting team should not contact the home team until 1 (one) hour before the starting time of the match.
